​Just like that, we’re three weeks into the Massachusetts high school football season.As the season kicked off, we gave you lists of the top seniors and underclassmen to keep your eyes on this fall. Many of them have already and continue to star in the early part of the season. We also left it up to you, our readers, to decide who our two preseason awards will go to with our reader poll. Without further ado, we’ll now reveal the results of those polls.Here are the winners of the Enterprise Brockton-area Preseason High School Football Senior and Underclassmen Player of the Year polls.Enterprise Brockton-area Preseason High School Football Senior of the YearNick Rotondo, Bridgewater-RaynhamThe Trojans senior defensive end/outside linebacker is committed to play collegiately at the Division 1 FCS level for Yale after receiving 16 Division 1 offers. The 6’4, 230-pound pass rusher has been causing chaos for opposing quarterbacks and their offenses for the last several years at B-R and helped the team reach the Division 2 Final Four a season ago.He commanded 62.3 percent of the poll to earn the honor. Cardinal Spellman’s Zack Villano was runner-up, finishing with 23.2 percent of the poll. Abington senior quarterback Jack Reilly finished third.Enterprise Brockton-area Preseason High School Football Underclassmen of the YearDanny Pifer, AbingtonPifer, a junior running back for the Green Wave, has stood out in a crowded and competitive backfield this season. In a season-opening 43-21 win over Longmeadow, Pifer collected 108 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns, which earned him the first Player of the Week honors for the 2026 season. He often runs behind a block from his older brother and Abington senior offensive lineman Matthew Pifer, who was also up for Preseason Senior of the Year. Pifer collected 56.8 percent of the poll to earn the honor. He was followed by runner-up Jaeden Azevedo of Cardinal Spellman (18.6%).
