Robert Lewandowski ‘couldn’t imagine’ playing for another Euro team after Barcelona

   ​Robert Lewandowski says he couldn’t imagine himself playing for another European team after leaving Barcelona which is why he opted to make the switch to MLS.The veteran striker has joined Chicago Fire after four years with Barcelona during which time he won three La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementLewandowski said an emotional goodbye to fans at the end of the season and says that his love for the club meant he wanted to look for a new challenge outside of Europe.“I couldn’t imagine myself in a different club beside Barcelona, so that’s why we know that the next step will be outside Europe,” he told reporters.“And of course that it’s not easy to move from Europe [for] us now to USA, but from another side we are very [excited]. But of course it’s like our life’s changing, but it’s the new experience. And I hope so that for me, for my family, that will be the new chapter, a nice, beautiful chapter in our life.”Lewandowski has signed a two-year deal with Chicago Fire. The team sits in third place in the Eastern Conference currently with action due to resume shortly following a break for World Cup 2026.
