Rockies Duo Among Top Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets For Week 15

The Rockies have the worst record in baseball. However, as we look towards Week 15, there are two hitters from their squad who could provide a boost in fantasy. Let’s look at them, and three other players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.
Rumfield did a great job of getting on base in the minors, batting .285 with a .378 OBP at Triple-A last year. Helping his cause was his 11.9% walk rate and 18.4% strikeout rate. He has an 8.9% walk rate and a 15.0% strikeout rate this year in the majors, which has helped him hit .284 with a .360 OBP. With him hitting 20-for-55 (.364) with five home runs and 14 RBI over his last 14 games, he should be rostered in more leagues.

Burke dominated the Guardians in his last outing, allowing one run and recording six strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings. That marked the fifth time over his last seven appearances that he allowed two or fewer runs. After giving up 1.5 HR/9 last season, he has allowed 1.1 HR/9 this year on his way to a 3.71 ERA and 3.95 xERA. He is lined up to face the Orioles and Guardians next week, making him an appealing streaming option.
Cantillo is coming off his best start of the season, allowing one run and recording nine strikeouts over eight innings against the Astros. His 1.40 WHIP for the season leaves a lot to be desired, and his strikeout rate has dropped to 22.4%. However, opponents only have a 36.7% hard-hit rate against him. In 10 of his 16 starts, he has allowed two or fewer earned runs. He will start at home against the Mariners on Friday and then again next week at home against the Rangers. Both teams rank inside the bottom-10 in baseball in runs scored, making Cantillo another viable streaming option.

Nunez has yet to hit a home run this season, leaving him with a .284 slugging percentage. He is also batting just .240. However, he has been a menace on the base baths with 31 stolen bases. Over just 63 games a Triple-A last year, the speedster recorded 37 steals. Don’t add him if you need power or batting average, but for those in desperate need of steals, there may be no better option than Nunez.
McCarthy was included in this column last week. At the time, he was rostered in 11% of leagues. He is currently on a nine-game hitting streak that has seen him go 14-for-39 (.359) with one home run, one triple, and two doubles. Six of those nine games were played at home, where he hits .315 with a .550 slugging percentage. Following their three-game series against the Twins in Minnesota this weekend, the Rockies then play seven straight games at home. McCarthy has an excellent opportunity to remain productive.
