​Since Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña returned from injury in late July, he’s hitting .212. However, since the start of August, he has heated up, hitting .265 with four home runs in eight games. Acuña has hits in seven of his last eight games after going 0-for-4 against the Yankees on Sunday afternoon.Acuña has spent multiple stints on the injured list this season with a left hamstring strain. He returned in May after the initial injury kept him out for much of the start of the season. Then, he was placed on the injured list on June 10 and returned on July 27 after the All-Star break.He struggled after coming back in mid-May but had some hot streaks that really flashed how impactful a player he can be. Acuña hit home runs in four straight games, hitting a total of five bombs in that four-game span, with two coming against the Cincinnati Reds on May 30.He’s had a similar experience since returning from the injured list this time around. After missing a month and a half, Acuña recorded two hits in five games from July 27 to July 31.His seven-game hit streak in August is the longest hit streak he’s had since September of last season. He is showing signs of putting together a solid end of the season and that he is fully healthy and able to contribute at the level Atlanta needs him to be a true World Series contender.Acuña’s continued production would join a lineup that features Michael Harris, who is currently hitting .291 with 20 home runs and 67 runs batted in. Harris is also heating up in August, hitting .276 with a .748 OPS. Austin Riley has also turned it on offensively, turning his season around after a pretty abysmal offensive showing to start the year.Riley is hitting .333 in August with two home runs and seven runs batted in. He also has a 1.012 OPS.The Braves’ best players continuing to step up at the plate would be a big boost for the Braves, who, no pun intended, struck out on adding impact starting pitching at the trade deadline. There have been reports that Atlanta pursued all three of Jacob deGrom, Tarik Skubal and Logan Webb but couldn’t get a deal done. They did add both Tyler Mahle and Brent Suter. Atlanta currently ranks seventh in MLB in batting average, fourth in home runs and seventh in OPS. Sitting with a lengthy lead in the NL East, it feels like the Braves are in a great spot to make a playoff push.
