The Texas high school football season hits full steam Friday when most UIL schools play their first game of the season. In Central Texas, Round Rock and Weiss faceoff at Dragon Stadium in a matchup between two of the top 10 teams in the American-Statesman’s preseason countdown. Round Rock is coming off a 5-6 season where it lost to Lake Travis in the first round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs. Weiss went 10-3 a year ago and reached the regional semifinals in Class 5A Division I.
