The Seattle Seahawks inked three-time Pro Bowler Devon Witherspoon to a four-year, $132 million extension on Saturday that includes more than $101 million guaranteed and makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.Witherspoon, an invaluable piece of a Seahawks defense known as “The Dark Side” that terrorized the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl last season, will reportedly earn $33 million per year on his new deal. That lucrative contract resets the market at the position, at which the Cleveland Browns’ Denzel Ward was the previous leader in average annual value (AAV) at $31.1 million, according to Over the Cap. Also near the top of that leaderboard is Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie, who is reeling in $31 million in AAV, thanks to a head-turning four-year, $124 million deal he signed with the Rams after they acquired him from the Kansas City Chiefs in a blockbuster trade this offseason.ESPN sources: three-time Pro-Bowl CB Devon Witherspoon and the Seahawks reached agreement on a four-year, $132 million extension and includes over $101 million guaranteed that now makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. pic.twitter.com/c7tsiz6KbJ— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 15, 2026This story is being updated.
