​Seahawks fans probably liked what they saw from rookie running back Jadarian Price in Wednesday night’s NFL season opener against the New England Patriots in Seattle.Price, a Notre Dame product, took his first NFL carry 13 yards early in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s Seahawks opener against the New England Patriots.“That was great,” Price said. “For a first run, to get positive yards and a first down, that’s all you want as a running back.”He found similar success on future carries, too, rushing for 42 yards on just six first-half carries, averaging seven yards per carry. He finished with 52 yards on 10 carries, an average of 5.2 yards per carry. He added six receiving yards on two receptions.Price said he wasn’t disappointed more carries didn’t come his way, even when he averaged seven yards per carry in the first half. Seattle’s inability to consistently sustain drives made it difficult to find offensive rhythm most of the night.“Kind of the way the game was flowing,” Price said. “But I’m glad the running game was going and I’m sure the offensive coordinator was as well. It just makes us feel more comfortable as an offense to open up and throw it, see what Jaxon (Smith-Njigba) did to go win the game.”The final stat line wasn’t earth-shattering, but the bursts of speed and vision showed why Seattle made Price a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.“I loved it, man,” right guard Anthony Bradford said. “He got heart. He’s hitting the holes and he’s not missing a beat. It don’t even feel like he a rookie out there.”Left guard Gray Zabel, who told The News Tribune he didn’t feel like he had his best run-blocking night, said he was impressed by the rookie.“I think he ran the ball hard,” Zabel said. “Played his ass off. … He’s a powerful runner, gets downhill and runs behind his pads. That’s all you can ask for as an offensive lineman.”Price, who said the pro game didn’t feel too different to him than the college game, said he feels like good things are coming in the run game. He pointed to the 13-yard run on his first carry as evidence.“That shows you more explosive runs are coming,” he said. “Maybe they didn’t come this game, but I’m proud of my performance and I’m only gonna get better from here on out.”Price is Seattle’s lead back after Kenneth Walker III, the Super Bowl 60 MVP, left in free agency and signed with Kansas City. Zach Charbonnet is still recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in the playoffs last season.Price (10 carries) split carries fairly evenly with George Holani (eight carries) on Wednesday. As a team, Seattle gained just 97 yards on the ground.
