Shannon Sharpe, Ochocinco push back on Stefon Diggs’ bold statement

Stefon Diggs doesn’t believe there is a No. 2 receiver currently in the NFL better than he is right now.The former New England Patriots wide receiver made the bold claim on his YouTube channel as he continues to navigate free agency. NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco disagreed with that position during a recent episode of Nightcap.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”There are a couple. Dallas got one. Whoever you say is [No.] 1, the other [No.] 2 is better than Stefon. Cincinnati, whoever you say is [No.] 1 is better than him. …The Rams,” said Sharpe. The No. 1 and No. 2 receivers for the Dallas Cowboys are interchangeable between CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, while the Cincinnati Bengals have Ja’Marr Chase as the No. 1 and Tee Higgins as the No. 2. Meanwhile, the Rams have Puka Nacua as the No. 1 and Davante Adams as the No. 2.Ochocinco agreed with Sharpe for the most part, and he even added the Minnesota Vikings to the list. Justin Jefferson is the top wideout in Minnesota with Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings also on the roster. With that said, Ochocinco does believe that what Diggs said carries weight. He might not be the best No. 2 wide receiver, but the line in front of him is still incredibly short.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”Yeah, it’s a couple. …Minnesota. …The Rams,” said Ochocinco. “…As you go a bit further and get a bit deeper into some of these other teams, like, he would be a bona fide, their No. 2 is not better than him. And he’s right, even coming off an ACL injury and having 1,000 yards.”The Patriots released Diggs back in March ahead of the start of NFL free agency, and the former four-time Pro Bowler still hasn’t signed with a new team. There has been interest from multiple teams, leading many to believe the biggest sticking point right now is money.Diggs hauled in 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in a one-and-done year in New England. However, he is an aging receiver who turns 33 years old this year. Combine that with the knee injury and the fact that this will be his fifth NFL team, and it’s clear why teams might be thinking long and hard about the contract numbers.Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook. This article originally appeared on Patriots Wire: Shannon Sharpe, Ochocinco push back on Stefon Diggs’ bold statement
