She’s helped transform the league, and Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham seems to think she should be praised for that.During a recent interview on Colin Cowherd’s podcast, Cunningham was asked about Clark as Cowherd compared her to a few NBA legends.“I look at her, and I think she’s got Jordan’s ascension, Curry’s game, and Larry Bird’s personality. Am I wrong?” Cowherd asked Cunningham on the podcast.Cunningham largely agreed with that assessment from Cowherd.“No, I don’t think you are. I think that Larry Bird, honestly, might have a little sass,” Cunningham replied. “Caitlin is just her own – her own personality. Especially off the court. She is strictly basketball. She loves to sit on the couch; she loves to watch TV – she’s very simple.”Cunningham went on to praise Clark for everything that she has done for the WNBA as she indicated that she thinks her Fever teammate deserves more recognition for how she has helped transform the league over the past few years.“It’s been a blessing that she has been in our league. I think the talent has always been there in our league, but the eyes and the platform, and how she’s transforming our game…” Cunningham said. “We can be thankful for the people who came before us, but you can also witness greatness and say that she is great and she has done so much for our sport right now. And I don’t know why people are so reluctant to give her her flowers.”Cunningham and Clark are in their second season as teammates. Throughout their time together, Cunningham has regularly served as Clark’s enforcer and defender on the court. And it sounds like she’s willing to stick up for her off the court, too.The post ‘She has done so much for our sport’: Sophie Cunningham says people are ‘reluctant’ to praise Caitlin Clark appeared first on The Comeback: Today’s Top Sports Stories & Reactions.
