​West Ham United will conduct a further assessment of midfielder Tomas Soucek’s ankle injury later this week after he sustained ligament damage in his left ankle during the Czech Republic’s final World Cup group game against Mexico last Thursday. Soucek appeared to roll his ankle while chasing down Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa and was helped off the pitch by teammates before being stretchered off in the 87th minute of the match. West Ham’s performance director Richard Collinge said the player would return to London for additional evaluation and assessment on his ankle, with a final decision to be made on the best method of injury management and the aim of a quick return to action.
