Taylor Beltz/StaffAIKEN – Fox Creek had no answers for South Aiken’s defense in the two teams’ region opener on Oct.1.Despite a slower start on offense for the T-Breds, they found their stride in the final quarter, scoring three times to cruise to a 35-0 victory.South Aiken head coach Chris Hamilton said miscues in the first half were a result of the team getting back into the swing of things following their bye week.“We kind of slept walked the first half,” he said. “We always worry about coming off of a bye week and kind of being rusty, and we were. Then the week off of school, and everything’s way different. And so we just got to make sure we come out next week with a little more intensity, a little more focus. But a win’s a good win. If we don’t fix that, then it’ll show itself again in crucial times, and we can’t do that, and I told them that. And so we’ve just got to execute a little better.”The fourth quarter is when they started to finally pick up some steam, scoring three times throughout the final 12 minutes to quickly turn a two-score lead into five.
