​We’re only a day away from finding out which player the White Sox will select as the overall No. 1 pick, but we couldn’t let that moment pass without inviting the esteemed Reacts voting bloc to weigh in. Among the trio of Roch Cholowsky, Grady Emerson, and Vahn Lackey, there was a clear favorite—at least in terms of position. What’s interesting is that while White Sox scouts reportedly favor Emerson and the front office leans toward Lackey, Cholowsky, the presumptive No. 1, has remained the top pick in the majority of mock drafts. As a result, our voting base is aligning with the favorite, and Cholowsky, being the most well-known of the three, could very well end up the pick.
For the record, Brett’s vote went to Vahn Lackey.
Beyond the draft chatter, the national survey portion offered a mid-year awards preview. Shohei Ohtani was expected to be mentioned, but there are no White Sox players among the frontrunners in the mix. (And if there were a Rookie of the Year poll, Munetaka Murakami might have slipped out of consideration given his absence over the past six weeks.) So, we’ll present all the surveys in sequence, without bias.
There is, at least, one former White Sox name in the mix, though the odds still seem long.
