LOS ANGELES — The Sparks are making changes, but this time the focus is on the front office. General Manager Raegan Pebley and the organization have mutually agreed to part ways. “We are grateful to Raegan for her leadership and commitment to the Los Angeles Sparks and to women’s basketball,” said Managing Partner and Governor Eric Holoman in the official announcement. “Her work on the Sparks roster and the overall player experience will have a lasting positive impact on our organization. We sincerely thank her for all she has invested in the Sparks and wish her success in her next chapter.” The team announced that the duties will be shared on an interim basis by Assistant GMs Zach Knowlton and Nate Nielsen.
Pebley assumed the role of General Manager in January 2024. Before entering executive leadership, she had an extensive coaching career, including a long tenure at TCU from 2014 to 2023, with coaching stints at Utah State and Fresno State along the way. During her time in Los Angeles, she oversaw several significant roster moves, such as drafting Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson in the 2024 draft, engineering the Kelsey Plum trade in January 2025, and bringing back stars Nneka Ogwumike and Erica Wheeler ahead of the 2026 season. In the 2026 offseason, Pebley traded Jackson for Ariel Atkins, further shaping the roster.
In addition to her front-office responsibilities, Pebley hired Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts in November 2024. “I found out this morning,” Roberts said during Sunday’s practice, addressing the news. “Raegan’s a friend of mine, and I care about her. This is the hard part in sports, right?” Nonetheless, the Sparks press forward as the team readies for a four-game road trip before closing the first half of the season with a home matchup against the Phoenix Mercury.
The Sparks will face the Atlanta Dream for the first time this season on Monday night, continuing a busy stretch as the team navigates leadership change while focusing on on-court performance and upcoming games. This leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment as the organization emphasizes stability, roster development, and competitive play in the run toward the rest of the season and beyond.
