She served as host/reporter for network shows and worked as pre- and postgame host for each game on the Capitals Radio Network. She also was the host and producer of both short-form and long-form Capitals podcasts, building a reputation for versatile, fan-first storytelling across television, radio and digital platforms.Hockey runs in Florio’s family. She was born about 60 miles from Pittsburgh in Johnstown, Pa., where her father, Perry Florio, a 1984 fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, played five years for the Johnstown Chiefs before coaching professionally for eight years. Much of her family still calls the region home.”Pittsburgh has always felt like home to me, and to get the chance to cover the Penguins here, where so much of my family still lives, means everything,” Florio said. “I grew up around the rink because of my dad, and I’ve spent my career chasing that same passion for the game. She also has experience in major league and minor league baseball. She is a graduate of Clemson University.
