Spurs All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox missed his second straight preseason game Saturday night with what coach Mitch Johnson called “general tightness in his hip.””Nothing serious or long term,” Johnson said before the 102-98 loss at Phoenix. “Obviously, we don’t want to push it.”Fox also sat out the preseason-opening 123-116 loss to Atlanta on Thursday night due to what the team called “general soreness.”Spurs second-year forward Carter Bryant is also dealing with an injury after leaving Saturday’s game early with what appeared to be an ankle injury.”He stepped on, I believe, (Devin Vassell’s) foot,” Johnson said. “I hope he’s OK. Not sure.”In positive injury news, second-round rookie forward Maliq Brown had eight points on 3-of-3 shooting from the field (2 of 2 from 3-point range) and a rebound in 10 minutes against the Suns after missing the preseason opener with back tightness. The Spurs also continue to sit 15-year veteran forward Tobias Harris after signing him to a two-year, $31 million deal in the offseason. The club ruled him out for the preseason after he strained his left calf during the first week of training camp”He’s had an impact instantly just from being around,” Johnson said. “We expect him back soon and really excited to see how he can be a piece to the puzzle.”SubscribeThere’s more to San Antonio with the Express-News.
