​Aug. 1—GLENWOOD — The Glenwood-Lowry American Legion baseball team got off to a great start when it finally played Friday night at Marthaler Field.Posts 187 & 253 scored two runs in the top of the first inning.And that was that.Ada Post 26 beat Glenwood-Lowry 4-2 in the 39th annual Division II state tournament.Both teams managed two hits. But, Ada also took advantage of 11 walks, two hit-by-pitches and two Glenwood-Lowry errors to win.Ada plays Le Sueur-Henderson at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the state semifinals. Le Sueur-Henderson beat Sleepy Eye 8-1.The other semifinal has the St. Cloud Chutes playing Parkers Prairie at 5 p.m. Saturday. St. Cloud beat Rushford 7-0 and Parkers Prairie edged Ely 2-1.Glenwood-Lowry faces Sleepy eye in the consolation semifinals at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.The championship game is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday.Friday night’s Ada/Glenwood-Lowry game started at about 9:45 p.m. The schedule was pushed back because of heavy rains that ended in the late morning.AJ Svec and Miles Wildman had hits for Glenwood-Lowry.Ada left-hander Austin McCraven went the distance for the win. He struck out 10 and walked three, allowing the two hits and two unearned runs.Jack Miller went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs to propel Le Sueur-Henderson past Sleepy Eye at Glenwood’s Marthaler Park.Colton Wilson was also 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Le Sueur-Henderson. Peyton Tellijon put up two hits, including a double. He was also the winning pitcher, striking out three in a complete game.Sleepy Eye’s Merrick Mathiowetz finished 2-for-3.Parkers Prairie’s AJ Woodworth struck out 10 in a complete-game victory over Ely at Glenwood’s Marthaler Park.Woodworth gave up one run on five hits and no walks.Joe Johnson, Gavin Boesl, Landon Nistler, Trevor Rounds and Colton Debilzen each had a hit for Parkers Prairie.Ely’s Caid Chittum went 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Pitcher Hunter Halbakken struck out eight over seven innings.The St. Cloud Chutes moves into the Division II championship semifinals with the victory over Rushford at Glenwood’s Marthaler Park.St. Cloud plays Parkers Prairie at 5 p.m. Saturday. Rushford moves into the consolation semifinals against Ely at 9 a.m. Saturday.Jack Hamak allowed four hits over six shutout innings, striking out seven and walking six. Charlie Dolan pitched a scoreless seventh.Caden Johnson went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs and Ryan Liebrenz went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs and three RBIs for St. Cloud. The Chutes are the summer team of St. Cloud Cathedral, which won the Class AA high school title in June.
