That’s because veteran Aaron Rodgers is back for another swing at things.But, since this is Rodgers’ final year with the franchise, the Steelers have to focus on their quarterback of the future. Perhaps that’s one reason why they have so many signal-callers on their roster.Right now, the Steelers have four quarterbacks in their lineup. That’s a lot. Most teams don’t need that many, but if the Steelers want to keep things this way, it’s going to create a roster issue.Steelers face a roster crunch with four quarterbacksIn a feature out on Saturday, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor lays out why this is an issue.”Which position gets reduced to accommodate four quarterbacks?” Pryor states in the piece. “Mason Rudolph seemingly solidified his spot as QB2 without playing a snap as Will Howard struggled, and rookie Drew Allar failed to replicate his explosive preseason debut.”Pryor adds, “Unless the Steelers try to sneak Howard through on the practice squad, it seems more and more likely that they’ll keep four quarterbacks, and that would mean numbers have to be reduced somewhere else on the roster.”Pryor also points out that two groups to keep an eye on are the “offensive linemen and safeties because of the position flexibility of veterans such as Brock Hoffman and Jalen Ramsey.”So, if the Steelers want to keep four quarterbacks, that’s their prerogative.
