Photo by G Fiume/Getty ImagesStefon Diggs scored his first touchdown as a Washington Commander during their Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.Unfortunately, the WR’s overenthusiastic celebration cost the Commanders dearly, as Diggs received a 15-yard penalty that many fans are pointing to as the reason for their 24-22 loss.The 32-year-old WR is looking to re-establish himself as a star in the NFL, but his first action after a successful moment seems to indicate that Diggs winds up getting into bad situations of his own creation.Stefon Diggs picks up an unnecessary penalty while celebrating first Commanders TDWith 10 minutes left in the final quarter, Diggs scored a touchdown off a 10-yard pass from QB Jayden Daniels to cut Philly’s lead to 17-15.However, Diggs would jump on the goalpost to celebrate his TD, leading to a 15-yard penalty and forcing the Commanders to abandon plans for a game-tying two-point play and settle for an XP.The Commanders continued trailing by one point and would lose by two after exchanging a pair of touchdowns with Philadelphia, but failing to convert the final two-point play of the game to force OT.Diggs had a decent debut with four receptions on nine targets for 55 yards and one touchdown. I’m pretty sure at that point we would’ve gone for two, and (instead) had to settle for the extra point.”The on-field chemistry between Diggs and Daniels looked great in this season opener, so we will have to see if this result altered their relationship in any way.It’s a long season, and the Commanders look competitive after Week 1.
