The Golden State Warriors selected Yaxel Lendeborg at No. 11 in the 2026 NBA Draft. While the Michigan product expressed excitement for entering the league, he also admitted that he wasn’t a fan of Stephen Curry growing up. He even went as far as saying that he “hated” him as he cheered for Kyrie Irving.
Lendeborg starred for the Michigan Wolverines last season and led the program win the national championship. He earned consensus first-team All-American honors and was named Big Ten Player of the Year.

Curry welcomed him to the Warriors with a comment on Instagram. The superstar guard also jokingly promised to do his best so Lendeborg will like him more.
Lendeborg provides Golden State with a versatile forward who can play at the three or four spots. He is also capable of stretching the floor with his 3-point shooting. His experience in the NCAA will be key in his transition to the pros.

The four-time NBA champion played just 43 games due to a knee injury. Curry and the Warriors finished with a 37-45 record and lost in the play-in tournament, failing to qualify for the playoffs.

He averaged 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The numbers looked decent, but the 38-year-old struggled to stay healthy. Curry expects to be at 100% when next season starts, with his eyes set on reaching the playoffs again.
