Stockstill, Singletary added to CUSA Hall of Fame

Conference USA established its own Hall of Fame in 2019, and every July the organization adds new members to its growing fraternity. This year, the conference welcomed five storied athletes to its Hall of Fame, rounding out the Class of 2026 as follows: Jon Elmore from Marshall men’s basketball (2015-19), Rachel Folden from Marshall softball (2006-08), Joyce Lee-McNelis, longtime Memphis and Southern Miss women’s basketball coach (1995-22), Devin Singletary from Florida Atlantic football (2016-18), and Brent Stockstill from Middle Tennessee football (2013-18). Singletary and Stockstill are the 10th and 11th football alumni to be inducted into the C-USA Hall of Fame.
Devin Singletary, running back for Florida Atlantic (2016-18), enjoyed a remarkable three-year stretch at FAU, surpassing 1,000 rushing yards in every season. The Deerfield Beach, Florida native—affectionately known to Owls fans as “Motor”—made a statement as a true freshman in 2016, rushing for 1,021 yards and 12 touchdowns. But his best work was still ahead. In 2017, he finished fourth in the entire FBS with 1,920 rushing yards, and his 32 rushing touchdowns led the nation by nine. That breakout year helped FAU clinch its first Conference USA championship, an 11-3 campaign that marked the Owls’ best-remembered season. After dropping to 0-2 to start, FAU leaned on Singletary’s string of 12 consecutive 100-yard games to fuel their ascent and secure a historic turnaround.
Singletary continued his dominance in 2018, accumulating 1,348 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns, ranking 11th and second in the FBS in those categories, respectively. Over his FAU tenure, he recorded 22 games with 100 rushing yards or more in just 38 appearances, including four 200-yard rushing performances. He left FAU as the program’s all-time leader in single-game, single-season, and career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, amassing 4,289 rushing yards—760 more than the next closest FAU standout, Alfred Morris—and 66 rushing touchdowns, the most in school history by a wide margin. Singletary was selected No. 74 in the 2019 NFL Draft, making him the third-highest pick ever produced by Florida Atlantic, behind Rob Housler (2011) and D’Joun Smith (2015). He spent four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, starting 56 of 66 games and recording more than 430 rushing yards and 110 receiving yards in seven straight NFL seasons. His career-best rushing total came in 2023 with the Houston Texans, when he totaled 898 yards. As of now, Singletary is a member of the New York Giants, entering his third season with the franchise.
Brent Stockstill, quarterback for Middle Tennessee (2013-18), began his college football journey with an initial commitment to Cincinnati. However, he ultimately followed his family’s football legacy by starring at Middle Tennessee, where his father, Rick Stockstill, served as head coach beginning in 2006. This decision set the stage for a productive Blue Raiders career that contributed to the ongoing tradition of football excellence within Conference USA.
