Seattle Storm forward Ezi Magbegor is again sidelined and won’t be on the court in the near future. On Sunday, Magbegor was listed as out with a facial injury ahead of the Storm’s face-off with the Washington Mystics. Storm head coach Sonia Raman later confirmed the injury, revealing that Magbegor has a broken bone in her face and will undergo reevaluation in the coming weeks.
The injury occurred earlier in the season during a July 9 matchup against the Atlanta Dream. Magbegor left the game early in the second quarter after taking an inadvertent elbow to the face while pursuing a rebound against Dream center Madina Okot. She was ruled out for the remainder of the game. In eight minutes of play, Magbegor contributed two points and five rebounds before leaving the floor. Following the game, Raman explained, “Ezi got hit in the face. We don’t have an update right now, but we’re evaluating her.”
Magbegor’s latest setback comes four games into her return from a foot injury that sidelined her for the first 20 games of the season. The forward has been working to regain form as she rejoined the Storm lineup. In April, Magbegor sustained a right foot injury while competing for Australia during the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers in Istanbul, Turkey. She made her 2026 WNBA season debut on July 2 against the Phoenix Mercury, recording eight points, three assists and a steal in 17 minutes. Through four appearances this season, she has averaged 3.5 points, four rebounds and one assist per game.
Magbegor’s absence will be felt as Seattle continues its campaign without one of its key frontcourt players. The team will need to lean on its depth and seek other ways to generate scoring and interior presence while Magbegor recovers. The statement from Raman that Magbegor will be reevaluated in the next couple of weeks leaves open the possibility of a return later this season, depending on how her facial injury heals and what medical evaluations determine. For fans and observers, the focus remains on Magbegor’s health and the Storm’s ability to adapt as they navigate the schedule without their rising star.
This update follows ongoing discussions about Magbegor’s status and the impact of injuries on Seattle’s rotation. As the team awaits further information, the priority remains her health and safe recovery. The Storm will provide additional updates as they become available, with hopes that Magbegor can rejoin the lineup sooner rather than later should medical professionals clear her to return.
