Terrion Arnold still drawing interest from NFL teams after arrest for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery

A judge ruled Friday that former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold will not be required to wear a GPS tracker while he awaits trial, allowing him to continue pursuing opportunities with other NFL teams after the Lions cut him shortly after his arrest. Arnold, 23, is free on a $1 million bond following his arrest on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. Although prosecutors urged that he remain jailed before his trial, the judge granted him release on bond, while also finding that there is enough probable cause to proceed to trial on the charges. The Lions parted ways with Arnold soon after that ruling.
Despite the ongoing legal case and an uncertain NFL future, Arnold has drawn interest from several teams, according to his agent, Nicole Lynn. Lynn testified Friday, cited by the Detroit News, that four NFL clubs have shown interest: the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, and Houston Texans. Arnold has already worked out for the Texans, with two additional visits reportedly scheduled in the coming weeks. Lynn argued that requiring an ankle monitor would make it impossible for Arnold to secure a job, which she suggested influenced the judge’s decision granting release.
Prosecutors have alleged that Arnold orchestrated the kidnapping and beating of two men whom he believed had stolen from him. Even though Arnold was not present inside the room where the beatings occurred, prosecutors contend that he helped plan the incident, sat in a car outside during the events, and watched via a FaceTime call as it unfolded.
Arnold, whom the Lions chose with the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has faced a rocky start to his professional career. He started 15 games as a rookie, amassing 60 total tackles. In his second season, he appeared in only eight games due to a shoulder injury and posted disappointing ratings in Pro Football Focus’ metrics, ranking 97th among cornerbacks. The current legal proceedings and the unsettled status of his playing career have driven renewed scrutiny of his performance history, while teams consider whether to take a chance on him as he faces serious criminal charges.
