Texas A&M RHP selected by Washington Nationals in 2026 MLB Draft

Texas A&M right-handed pitcher Weston Moss is set to join infielder Chris Hacopian in the Washington Nationals organization after being selected with the No. 316 pick in the 11th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday. The Spring, Texas, native posted a 5.46 ERA and 69 strikeouts over 14 starts during his junior season with the Aggies. As one of Texas A&M’s weekend starters, Moss finished the year with a 5-2 record and held opponents to a .264 batting average, contributing significantly to the team’s success in keeping the bullpen on track and helping propel the Maroon and White to postseason play.
Moss, who had two years of college eligibility remaining, chose to pursue a professional path. After taking part in the draft combine in Phoenix, he entered the draft ranked as the No. 456 overall prospect in the class, according to Perfect Game. Earlier in his career, Moss was rated as the No. 182 overall player and the No. 55 right-hander following his senior year at Montgomery Lake Creek High School. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, he made four starts across 42 games, compiling a 9-3 record with 76 strikeouts.
Throughout his development, the talented righty showed noticeable gains in velocity and off-speed offerings, becoming a bright spot in a Texas A&M bullpen that faced challenges at times. He benefited from the guidance of pitching coach Jason Kelly, who was let go shortly after the team’s defeat to the USC Trojans in the Bryan-College Station Regional finals. Moss’s improvements helped him emerge as a key contributor for a program eager to climb back into national contention.

As the 2026 MLB Draft unfolds, Texas A&M remains a prominent source of talent for Major League Baseball, with Moss showcasing the program’s continued ability to develop promising pitchers who can transition to professional baseball. The combination of his refined command, velocity gains, and improved off-speed repertoire underscores why scouts took notice of his upside and selected him in the later rounds, hoping he can translate college success into a productive professional career.
