Texas A&M’s star infielder Gavin Grahovac was selected No. 81 overall in the third round of the 2026 MLB Draft, a pick that came a bit later than many had anticipated. The Los Angeles Angels are getting one of the most talented hitters and fielders in this year’s class. The junior from Orange, California, started all 57 games for the Aggies in 2026, delivering a .339 batting average and 22 home runs. His 22 homers helped him climb to seventh on A&M’s single-season list, ranking behind eight familiar names in school history. With 47 career home runs, Grahovac is tied with Aggie legend John Byington for the fourth-most in program lore.
Grahovac earned First Team All-SEC honors, was a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist, and was named an NCBWA Third-Team All-American for his standout final college season with the Maroon and White. His path to this moment followed a remarkable start, as he posted an outstanding freshman season during Texas A&M’s run to the College World Series, setting the program’s single-season freshman record with 23 home runs and 66 RBIs and earning freshman of the year in the conference. Although a grueling back injury sidelined him for much of the 2025 season under head coach Michael Earley, Grahovac rebounded to lead the Aggies with 78 hits and 26 multi-hit games.
In an era defined by the transfer portal and NIL, Grahovac remained a quintessential Aggie, a sentiment he emphasized during his pre-draft interview with David Nuño of TexAgs. “I thank A&M, more than anything, for this opportunity and how they’ve helped me get to where I am right now,” Grahovac said as he prepared for his moment on Saturday.
