Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is one of the top four QBs in the National Football League, according to a poll of league executives and coaches by The Athletic. The Athletic polled 21 NFL executives and 29 NFL coaches. All but four (46-of-50) ranked Burrow as a Tier 1 QB.“He’s so talented at throwing the ball, and he sees it so well,” an offensive coach said. “Everyone would want to have him, 10 times out of 10, no matter how much money he asked for.”The Athletic gives readers a chance to rank the QBs themselves in a poll. Some of the voters had concerns with how often Burrow gets hit and injured.“They know he’s going to get hit, and they know they are going to have some issues and take some sacks, and they think the risk is worth the reward because he’s an unbelievable passer, they have unbelievable skill talent and that is how they score points and win games,” an offensive coordinator said. “They prefer he doesn’t get hurt, but I’d also argue the injuries he’s had have been weird.”Burrow is one of four quarterbacks in Tier 1, including Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City, Josh Allen of Buffalo and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams. The Bengals will host the Chiefs on Dec. 13.According to the Athletic tiers, Burrow and the Bengals are projected to play five games against Tier 2 QBs. They will face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens twice, plus Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay), Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville), and Jayden Daniels (Washington).Based on current projected starters, they will play eight games against Tier 3 QBs, including two against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Others are Daniel Jones (Indianapolis), Tyler Shough (New Orleans), C.J. Stroud (Houston), Tua Tagovailoa (Atlanta), Cam Ward (Tennessee), and Bryce Young (Carolina). They list Atlanta’s Michael Penix, Jr., who is battling with Tagovailoa for the Falcons job, as a Tier 4 QB. Two of the players in Cleveland’s muddled QB room, Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, are also Tier 4, along with Miami’s Malik Willis. The Bengals host Detroit in their first preseason game Aug. 13 and begin the regular season Sept. 13 by hosting Mayfield and the Buccaneers. This article originally appeared on Cincinnati Enquirer: The Athletic ranks Joe Burrow as one of four top-tier quarterbacks
