‘The Cardinal Countdown: 8 Days Until Kickoff’

Cardinals History By The NumbersPeople can make arguments for other players and maybe even coaches, but in my opinion, at least during my time on this earth, Lamar Jackson (#8) will be the most notable figure in Louisville football history. Not only did he set multiple records, post incredible plays, and win the schools first Heisman trophy, but he has continued to represent the University and himself extremely well since his time on campus came to a close. I had zero issues with the University hanging up his jersey shortly after his career at Louisville ended, because in this lifetime no one is going to do it better in the number eight. There have been countless interviews, conversations, reports, articles, videos, in the last decade and I’ve yet to see one that reveals a different side of Lamar than the one so many of us fell in love with during his time here. If we’re hanging up jerseys it should be because the guy earned it on this field, but it doesn’t hurt when they’re equally as impressive off of it.This summer I sat down my ten year old and we started watching every game of the 2016 season. There were some incredible plays and games to look back on and remember, and while 2016 was a special season, I’m certainly not alone in my opinion that 2017, at least statistically was even more impressive, and he probably should have gone back to back for the sports biggest trophy if not for the teams overall record. Here’s a “brief” little highlight clip from 2017, a year less recognized, but equally as impressive. Lamarvelous.
