​Juan Carlos Ferrero is returning to coaching and some believe he will join forces with Jannik Sinner.Reports recently emerged that Sinner was close to signing a deal with Ferrero. The move would send shockwaves across the tennis world, given Sinner’s rivalry with Ferrero’s former pupil, Carlos Alcaraz.Former Wimbledon semi-finalist John Isner doesn’t believe Ferrero will coach Sinner, and instead suggested the Spaniard would return to teach his countryman, Rafael Jodar.Coco Gauff’s ex-coach, Brad Gilbert, has now delivered his verdict on what could be, by some distance, the most shocking coaching move of the 2026 season.Brad Gilbert says there is a 0% chance Juan Carlos Ferrero coaches Jannik Sinner unless he clears out his entire teamDuring the latest episode of ‘The Big T Podcast‘, Gilbert shared his thoughts on Ferrero’s rumoured return to tennis.“I think people and the media instantly assumed that he has already signed up with somebody, then instantly the two players that jumped off the charts were [Rafael] Jodar, who makes the most sense because he doesn’t have a team, he just has his Father,” he said.“Remember, if you bring in JCF [Juan Carlos Ferrero], he is not just a coach; he brings in an entire team. He is going to bring the trainer and the physio, and you are going to have to train in his academy. The least sense, and most people were speculating that he is going to jump in, is [Jannik] Sinner. I do not see that happening whatsoever, because if [Darren] Cahill stops at the end of the year, the main coach, [Simone] Vagnozzi, is not stopping. I don’t see JCF coming on board with somebody and being a co-coach.“Maybe there is a chance that he coaches a WTA player. I don’t think he will coach anybody that he does not think will win majors. I think what is most important is that he feels that whoever he is going to be with is going to be in the realm of winning majors. I will also put that one of the highest percentages is that he doesn’t have a player yet; he just put that out there.”Gilbert was then explicitly asked to state the percentage chance of Ferrero joining Sinner’s coaching team.“0%. Unless Sinner cleans house. He has his entire team, and I do think that wherever JCF goes, he will bring his whole team. He is not just coming in by himself, being co-coach and fitting into a team.
