They won the first contact on 12 of their 16 deliveries and won three of four aerial duels.Seven of Madrid’s eight set-piece shots came in the second phase, meaning the shot followed an initial touch rather than being the first contact from the delivery. Jude Bellingham scored from a free-kick sequence in the ninth minute.Of Madrid’s deliveries, five went into central areas and two into the six-yard box. They also delivered once each to the edge of the box, wide of the box, the left half-space and the right half-space.Madrid produced two set-piece shots in the first half and six in the second. There were 16 dead balls before half-time, with five for Espanyol and 11 for Madrid. The second half had 23, with eight for Espanyol and 15 for Madrid.Espanyol had 13 dead balls in total: 11 goal kicks and two free kicks. Their two deliveries both went into central areas. Espanyol lost the first contact on both and did not produce a shot.All 13 of Espanyol’s dead balls came while the score was level. Madrid had 21 dead balls while the game was level, producing all eight of their set-piece shots during that game state. Their other five dead balls came while they were leading.
