During the rally, Trump announced that former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson was in attendance.According to Outkick Sports Jackson Thompson, before the Syracuse appearance, Tyson visited the White House in support of the president ahead of the midterm elections and gave reporters an early poll forecast.“I believe Donald Trump is gonna win it,” Tyson said at the West Wing briefing room before joining the President on Air Force One for Syracuse.During his speech at the rally, Trump spotted Tyson in the crowd and invited the former boxing champion on stage.“I think we have to call him up, Mike Tyson, will you get up here?” Trump said.As the president’s special guest for the day, Tyson praised Trump in front of the Syracuse crowd and even thanked him during a brief moment on stage.“Thank you, thank you very much. I’m just happy to be up here with my president, President Trump. There’s no way in the world I would ever be here if it wasn’t for a president like Donald Trump,” Tyson said. The duo has had a long-standing relationship dating back to the ’80s, as Trump used to host boxing events in Atlantic City. Tyson is also a major advocate for marijuana and has been in communication with the White House in efforts to change some of the laws surrounding it.“Tyson’s cannabis advocacy has become another connection in his decades-long friendship with Trump,” Thompson wrote. “In June 2025, Tyson joined Kevin Durant and other athletes in urging the White House to pursue federal marijuana reform.”Thompson noted that Tyson attempted to follow through on these goals with the previous administration but was “disappointed” when the matter was not a top priority.“Their requests extended beyond rescheduling,” Thompson added. “They sought clemency for nonviolent marijuana offenses and changes to banking restrictions affecting cannabis businesses. Tyson told Fox News Digital rescheduling was his top priority, expressing disappointment with former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s handling of cannabis reform.”“Trump took a step toward that goal in December 2025, signing an executive order directing the attorney general to expedite marijuana’s proposed move from Schedule I to Schedule III. The order instructed officials to complete the federal rulemaking process; it did not itself finalize the change.”The post ‘There’s no way in the world I would ever be here if it wasn’t for a president like Donald Trump’: Mike Tyson backs Trump appeared first on The Comeback: Today’s Top Sports Stories & Reactions.
