​John Harbaugh’s first Giants training camp begins in less than a week. The Giants’ veterans report to camp at The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia on Tuesday, with the first practice coming a day later. So let’s take a look the key position battles to watch in this camp. WIDE RECEIVERMalik Nabers is obviously the Giants’ No. 1 receiver. As he recovers from a torn ACL, it’s unclear if he will be ready for Week 1. It’s also unclear at what point in camp he will fully practice. Either way, he’s the top guy. But what about the No. 2 outside receiver spot, opposite Nabers? Darius Slayton is the returning veteran there. He should be OK to start camp after missing the spring (core muscle surgery). The Giants just drafted Malachi Fields in Round 3 — and traded up to get him. So they really like him. You can bet Harbaugh will give Fields a legit shot to beat out Slayton. Nabers’ absence will mean lots of work for Fields early in camp — a chance to show that he’s a better option than Slayton. RIGHT GUARDThis isn’t really much of a competition, but we’ll include it anyway, if only because Francis Mauigoa barely played right guard in college. Still, it looks like this year’s No. 10 pick will indeed start at right guard in Week 1. Mauigoa just needs to show in this camp that he’s a better option than a couple of underwhelming veterans, Aaron Stinnie and Daniel Faalele. Ultimately, it would be a surprise if Mauigoa didn’t win the job. KICKERThis one is pretty interesting. The Giants signed Jason Sanders this offseason to replace Graham Gano. And it looked like Sanders was going to be their kicker. Then they cut him in the spring. Harbaugh specializes in special teams, and he opted to pit Ben Sauls against undrafted rookie Dominic Zvada in this summer’s kicking competition. (Sauls went undrafted last year and joined the Giants in November.) In the spring, Zvada performed much better than Sauls. Unless something changes in a big way, Zvada has the inside track to the Week 1 job. CORNERBACKAn extremely important position battle. The Giants’ secondary is a huge question mark heading into the 2026 season, especially since their only consistent starter last year (Cor’Dale Flott) is now in Tennessee. Even though Paulson Adebo disappointed as a big-money free agent addition last season, it looks like he will occupy one starting outside corner job. Who starts at the other spot? Greg Newsome (low-profile free agency addition) is currently the favorite. But don’t rule out Colton Hood, a fascinating second-round rookie. Deonte Banks, a failed first-round pick who is entering a contract year, looks like a long shot to win the job. OUTSIDE LINEBACKERWe know the Giants will play Brian Burns a ton. And ultimately, Abdul Carter probably will get the bulk of the action opposite him.
