Supporters attending the match have faced long queues just to enter the stadium before Spain play Argentina at 3pm EDT.The United States Secret Service are said to have taken over security measures for the game because US president Donald Trump will be attending a match for the first time during this summer’s tournament.Just a few hours before kick-off, fans and journalists launched fierce criticisms of the operation.Journalist claims people would be called ‘animals’ if chaos outside MetLife happened in South America Mariana Spinelli, who works for leading Brazilian outlet Globo, took to social media platform X to write: “We’ve been in line for 2 hours for the x-ray to ENTER the stadium. Everything disorganized, a total chaos. If this were in South America, they’d call us animals, third-world country. Since it’s in the US nobody says anything. A nightmare of organization, pathetic.”Spinelli is clearly of the belief that if such events were to happen in South America, there would be a much higher level of outrage.Zach Lowy, the chief editor of Breaking The Lines, wrote: “The organization for this World Cup Final has been shambolic. Thousands who’ve been waiting for 3 hours, there’s a lack of security and officials and scanners, a lot of people who are cutting in line, and a lot of people who have gone around in circles without any progress.”A further complication also arose when soccer fans were warned to attend the stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey up to four hours before the kick off time.
