Yet if you want to identify the most eventful year in Tar Heel sports, 2025-26 certainly belongs in the conversation. By “eventful,” I don’t simply mean triumphant moments; it also encompasses a year filled with headlines that weren’t exactly banners of success. There were numerous days when a UNC story dominated college sports discourse, for better or worse.
I’m not personally sharp enough to catalog every notable off-field sports episode in Carolina history and perfectly align them with on-field results.
