​Bucky Irving finishes with 150 yards from scrimmageIf the Bucs want to finally get into the win column, Bucky Irving needs to be one of the biggest parts of the offensive game plan. Irving has already produced 183 yards from scrimmage through two games while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Despite Tampa Bay’s offensive struggles as a whole, Irving has remained one of its most consistent weapons. Minnesota presents a difficult challenge because Brian Flores has been extremely aggressive defensively. The Vikings have blitzed on 79.3 percent of their defensive snaps through two games, the highest rate in the NFL by a wide margin. They also already have eight sacks. That could actually create opportunities for Irving. Screens, checkdowns, and quick passes to the running back can give Baker Mayfield an answer when Minnesota sends extra pressure. If Irving gets involved both as a runner and receiver, this feels like the type of game where his total production could pile up quickly.Tampa Bay forces Kyler Murray into two turnoversKyler Murray’s return changes the Minnesota offense, but Tampa Bay has an opportunity to make his first full game back a difficult one. Murray suffered a concussion in Minnesota’s opener and attempted only five passes before leaving the game. He completed three of them for 18 yards and threw an interception. After missing the Vikings’ Week 2 win over Chicago, Murray has cleared protocol and will return to the starting lineup against Tampa Bay. The challenge for the Bucs will be containing his mobility while still creating pressure. Tampa Bay has struggled to generate a consistent pass rush through the first two weeks, but Todd Bowles is not going to suddenly become conservative. The Bucs have blitzed on 48.6 percent of their defensive snaps, the third-highest rate in the league.Baker Mayfield throws three touchdowns against Minnesota’s aggressive defenseMinnesota’s defense has been one of the biggest reasons for its 2-0 start, and Flores is going to test Tampa Bay’s protection from the opening drive. But there is another side to blitzing as frequently as Minnesota does. If Mayfield and the offensive line can identify where the pressure is coming from, there will be opportunities behind it. The Bucs cannot afford another game in which turnovers and protection issues prevent the offense from finding a rhythm. Tampa Bay has moved the football at different points this season, but finishing drives has been another story. Now the offense gets a Vikings defense that will force Mayfield to make quick decisions all afternoon. Look for Mayfield to attack the areas Minnesota vacates when it sends pressure, use Irving underneath, and give his receivers opportunities after the catch.
