EAST LANSING, MI – OCTOBER 17: Northwestern Wildcats quarterback Aidan Chiles (0) sprints off the field after his squad’s victory following a college football game between the Michigan State Spartans and Northwestern Wildcats on October 17, 2026 at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, MI. Northwestern also gave up a couple big completions, as well as some big returns on special teams, and had plenty of missed opportunities, like Drew Wagner’s dropped touchdown pass and Kleather’s blocked field goal, as well as getting only six points out of a potential 14 in two red zone trips that were halted. This wasn’t a great game played for the ‘Cats, but they delivered when it mattered most. Designed runsView LinkAidan Chiles did an excellent job on designed quarterback runs. Northwestern’s rushing attack overall didn’t have its best day, but among the ‘Cats’ big gains, these were up there. On the first play, Wagner motions across as Chiles snaps the ball. He then reads the edge defender on the power read, deciding to keep it and take off himself. The second play may not be a designed QB run, but Chiles is able to read how the pocket pushes the D-line to decide to tuck it and run. The third play is a speed option, where Chiles has the option to pitch it to Caleb Komolafe, but decides to keep it and breaks a tackle to attack the second level of the defense. The fourth play is a QB power on the goal line, where Chiles cuts back behind Gavin Sawchuk’s block to then get into the end zone. Having Chiles at quarterback adds an extra dimension that the opposing defense needs to be aware of on top of the already unique formations used by Chip Kelly. One final driveView LinkThis is basically the entire final drive of the game for Northwestern following the field goal block. With no timeouts, to be able to get into chip-shot field goal range in just one minute was very impressive. The third play in this cut-up is especially impressive, with Chiles delivering a sideline dart to Griffin Wilde despite getting hit hard. The last play in this sequence was a fantastic call as well, with the run throwing off the defense and producing a big gain, and also allowing for the Wildcats to run the clock down before spiking the ball and kicking the game-winning field goal.Keep on slingin’ itView LinkChiles has been an absolute gunslinger this season. His ability to read defenses and get the ball out to curl and hitch routes against all sorts of
