There have been numerous changes surrounding South Carolina baseball since the season came to a close, and the focus now shifts to the 2026 MLB Draft as the Gamecocks hope to see several of their players selected. In the middle of the season, the program parted ways with Paul Mainieri, and interim coach Monte Lee stepped in, only to be dismissed in mid-May as South Carolina officially launched its coaching search. In June, Kevin Schnall was brought in from Coastal Carolina, and he immediately began reshaping the roster, bringing in 25 newcomers via the transfer portal, eight of whom followed him from Coastal. The Gamecocks are aiming to rebound from a historically tough campaign, finishing the season at 22-25 overall and 7-23 in SEC play.
The MLB Draft is set to commence on July 11 at 1 p.m. (ET) with rounds 1-4, followed by rounds 5-20 on July 12 at 11:30 a.m. (ET) on MLB.com. The Greenville News is compiling a running tally of South Carolina draft selections, including signees and transfers, as part of its coverage. This ongoing section will be updated as players are chosen.
