Two leaders on the road: BVB youngsters want to keep it goingDortmund’s youth teams face away fixtures this weekend. Encouraged by their recent home derby win against FC Schalke 04 (1-0), coach Felix Hirschnagl’s U19 side will look to build on that on Sunday morning at VfL Osnabrück. The U17s – also top of the DFB Youth League table – travel to Duisburg a day earlier. Meanwhile, the U23s do not have their next Regionalliga match until the end of August. The youth matches at a glanceU23: no matchU19: VfL Osnabrück – BVB (DFB Youth League): 23/08/2026, 11 a.m. (Main pitch, Ernst-Sievers-Straße 117, Osnabrück)U17: MSV Duisburg – BVB (DFB Youth League): 22/08/2026, 11 a.m. (Grass pitch, BSA Westender Straße 36, Duisburg)Break for the U23s: opponents Rhynern in DFB Cup actionThe wait for the U23s’ first win of the season finally ended last weekend. But in their push for a second three-pointer, coach Daniel Rios’s team will have to be patient. Their opponents originally scheduled for Matchday 4, Westfalia Rhynern, face Dynamo Dresden in the first round of the DFB Cup next weekend, meaning Borussia have no game. The Black & Yellows return to Regionalliga action on 29 August with a match away to promoted side VfB Hilden (2 p.m./live on LEAGUES). Three days earlier, most of the team will play their first Premier League International Cup match in England against Fulham FC. BVB enter the prestigious competition as defending champions.Confidence boost after derby win: U19 travel to Osnabrück full of beliefTwo games, two wins. With their strong start to the DFB Youth League preliminary group, the team have shown a positive response to their early cup exit against Kiel (3-4). Last Saturday’s 1-0 (1-0) win in the Ruhr derby against Schalke has given them even more momentum. With a win on Sunday (11 a.m.) away to VfL Osnabrück, who sit fourth after a 1-1 draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf, they aim to strengthen their grip on top spot in the DFB Youth League. It is the first of two away matches in four days. On Wednesday (11 a.m.), the team are already away to MSV Duisburg.Despite his delight at his team’s improving form, Felix Hirschnagl has identified one weakness that has been troubling his side since the start of the season. “We lose a bit of clarity in the second half. It’s something we need to address, how we come out after the break. That’s been the case throughout the campaign so far and in pre-season too – a bit of youthful madness. But hopefully we’ll get it under control,” says the U19 coach. Compared with the derby, his squad is unlikely to change much. The only possible exception is Amine Lettifi, who was signed this week from French club US Lesquin. “It would be great if he could already be involved. He’s a good dribbler and has a bit of a real street footballer about him,” says Hirschnagl, hoping for a quick playing permit for the 17-year-old winger.U17 hoping for a third win in a rowAfter the high-sc
