Tyler Herro said he expected to be traded this offseason, happy it’s Milwaukee

LAS VEGAS — In the last 24 hours, Tyler Herro has dominated headlines in Las Vegas for reasons that were far from ideal for him or his new team. The Miami product found himself entangled in a physical confrontation with former Heat teammate Bam Adebayo at a Strip hotel, sparked in part by social media exchanges that included disparaging comments aimed at Adebayo from a secondary Herro account. Before that incident became public, Herro was in Vegas, partly because his AAU squad is competing in a local tournament, and he took time to speak with reporters, including Miami Herald contributor Anthony Chiang, about the trade that sent him to Milwaukee as part of the Giannis Antetokounmpo deal.
“I saw it coming. If any summer, it was going to be this summer, so I was anticipating this. And obviously not knowing Milwaukee, but I kind of figured I was going to get traded this summer. I’m excited and happy it’s Milwaukee…” Herro said. He reflected on the way the trade fits into the broader arc of the franchise’s goals, acknowledging that the Heat are a club driven by championship pursuits. “Miami is an organization that wants to win championships and they want to compete. We’ve obviously almost got there, and we’ve had years where we’ve lost in the first round, we’ve had years where we didn’t make the playoffs. So it’s like, I’ve been through every ending of the season. And it makes sense for them to want to get a fresh start, get someone like Giannis and build from there. So, it’s understandable.”
Born in Milwaukee and raised in Wisconsin, Herro has frequently spoken about his eagerness to return home and wear the Bucks colors. Last season with the Heat, he averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 37.8 percent from three-point range. With a fresh chapter in Milwaukee, the expectation is that he will be counted on to handle the ball extensively and serve as a primary shot creator for the team. The move positions him to take on a more central offensive role, leveraging his scoring instincts and playmaking ability to help chart the Bucks’ path in a conference that demands constant high-level production from its wings.
As Milwaukee looks to integrate Herro into its structure, the attention will also remain on his fit within a roster that is built around dynamic guard play and offensive versatility. The expectation is that his skill set — a combination of scoring ability, movement off the ball, and the threat of his outside shooting — will complement Giannis Antetokounmpo’s strengths and provide another reliable option to generate offense when the primary actions stall. For Herro, the transition represents a homecoming and a chance to carve out a pivotal role on a team with championship aspirations, while for Bucks fans, it marks an intriguing new chapter in the franchise’s ongoing pursuit of sustained success.
