UFC 329 bonuses: Paddy Pimblett’s perfection picks up prime prize

The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday’s card in Las Vegas, including one for the co-main event winner. After UFC 329, four fighters earned an extra $100,000 for their performances at the T-Mobile Arena, while eight others received $25,000 bonuses for finishes that weren’t designated as bonuses-winners. Here’s a look at the list of recipients.
Brandon Royval and Lone’er Kavanagh delivered one of the standout flyweight battles in UFC history on the main card. Royval, a former title challenger, traded heavy blows with Kavanagh throughout the fight, with both men taking shots and giving as good as they got by the third round. After a flurry of scrambles on the mat and on the feet in the first ten minutes, Royval seized control on the ground late, securing a body triangle and a rear-naked choke that forced Kavanagh to tap.
Paddy Pimblett showcased a performance worthy of his rising profile in the co-main event, finishing Benoit Saint Denis with a D’Arce choke less than a minute into their lightweight showdown. Pimblett had predicted that Saint Denis would shoot, and he fulfilled that prophecy with the finish.
King Green pulled off a memorable comeback. He absorbed punishment from Terrance McKinney in the first round, taking several heavy shots and absorbing damage. With under 30 seconds remaining in the opening frame, Green landed a few body shots that hurt McKinney, then closed the round with a decisive finish just as time expired.
Robert Whittaker, making his light heavyweight debut, looked sharp against Nikita Krylov. Early in the third round, Whittaker landed powerfully, and it appeared Krylov may have suffered a jaw fracture, which helped secure the finish just 61 seconds into the final round.
Gable Steveson, who entered the night as a heavy favorite for his promotional debut against Elisha Ellison, overwhelmed Ellison and earned a first-round TKO despite Ellison’s early resistance and solid punches.
Adrian Yanez earned what many billed as the biggest win of his career by stopping former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in the first round with a TKO.
Luke Riley remained undefeated, defeating Kai Kamaka III with a first-round TKO. The stoppage may have been a touch premature, but Riley had no apologies for the victory and pressed forward with confidence.
Damian Pinas delivered a one-punch finish, stopping Cesar Almeida in the first round with a single shot, leaving Almeida with a clear path for a major follow-up on the canvas, though the referee intervened for the finish.
Ryan Gandra produced one of the most pristine left hands you’re likely to see, delivering a perfect shot that earned the knockout against Zach Reese.
