Countdown to kickoff is back! USC will launch its 2026 football season on August 29, opening with a home game against San Jose State at the Coliseum. In this ongoing series, we’re counting down the days to the season opener by shining a spotlight on a notable Trojan who wore each jersey number. With 52 days remaining, today’s focus is on former USC offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston.
Position: Offensive line
Years at USC: 2023
Career highlights: Kingston joined USC for his sixth and final year of college eligibility in 2023 after spending five years at Washington State. During his single season with the Trojans, he appeared in 12 of the 13 games and started 11, contributing at both right tackle and right guard along the line. His versatility up front was on full display as he logged significant time at multiple spots, providing depth and experience to USC’s o-line rotation.
After USC: Kingston’s professional journey began when the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Although he didn’t make the regular-season roster with San Francisco, he was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers the following day. In Carolina, Kingston contributed as a rookie, appearing in seven games and adding valuable depth to the Panthers’ offensive line.
From Carolina to Houston: Following his stint with the Panthers, Kingston was waived and subsequently joined their practice squad. He was then claimed by the Houston Texans in September and appeared in two games for Houston during the 2025 season. As of 2026, Kingston remains with the Texans, continuing his professional football journey and contributing as an experienced lineman.
