Indian teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was back in action against Afghanistan A on Wednesday at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.
In the opening match against Afghanistan A, Sooryavanshi got off the blocks quickly with three boundaries before misjudging a lofted shot over mid-off.

The bat turned in his grip and he could not generate the height or power to clear the fielder. Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige dived full length to complete the catch and end a 14-ball stay of 14 runs.

His second innings, against Afghanistan A again, was a different proposition. He shifted through the gears swiftly, reaching 44 off just 22 deliveries before being caught by Ishaq Rahimi off the bowling of Abdullah Ahmadzai.
In his third outing, Sooryavanshi again launched quickly, making 21 off 14 balls, before Arachchige stepped in to remove him once more and bring an end to yet another promising knock.

Sooryavanshi is expected to open the innings.
The India A vs Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A Tri-Nation series 2026 follows a double round-robin format, where each team plays the other two sides twice.
Each team plays four league matches in the 50-over (List A) format, making a total of six games before the final.
The top two teams on the points table qualify for the final, with points awarded as 2 for a win, 1 for no result, and 0 for a loss.
