SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The newest chapter of a longtime rivalry unfolds in week three of the 2026 high school football season. The No. 5 Wall Hawks have had an impressive start to the 2026 regular season, defeating a Class 4A opponent (Canyon West Plains) in week one and a Class 6A opponent (La Joya) in week two. Wall won those matches by final scores of 42-35 and 55-14, respectively. Wall’s week two win occurred at a neutral site in Uvalde, Texas, thus week three at Jim Ned marks Wall’s first true road test. The Hawks look to keep soaring and embrace another competitive matchup with Jim Ned; Wall won last season’s meeting 24-0. Setting history aside, it is just another game according to the coaches and players.”I think [Wall’s] kids are confident and confidence is growing,” Wall head coach Craig Slaughter said. “We really thought we were going to get to be a really good football team at some point, we just didn’t know how quick that would happen. We love how [Wall’s] playing and we’re excited about the weeks ahead.”Hawks senior wide receiver and safety Braylon Nelson shares the same vision.”[It’s] just another great game,” Naylor said. “Every year, [Jim Ned is] going to give us our best and we’re going to give us their best. It’s just another good game.”Nelson’s senior teammate and quarterback, Gunner King, embraces the rivalry.”It’s always been a rivalry,” King said. “[Jim Ned feels] the same way. We feel them and they feel us, so we’re not really big fans of each other, but that’s just how rivalries work. And I think we’re just gonna go out there, hopefully play some Wall football and just hopefully come out with another dub.”Wall’s week three matchup at Jim Ned kicks off Friday, Sept 11 at 7 p.m. CST in Tuscola, Texas.Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
