What do over 3,000 Minnesota Vikings fans really think about their team as they head into 2026? In this episode of The Real Forno Show, Tyler Forness blind-reacts to Alec Lewis’s fan survey from The Athletic, and the outcomes spark some of the most honest, unfiltered Vikings conversation of the offseason. Producer Dave Stefano joins Tyler as they break down everything—from the quarterback competition to ownership confidence—with a blend of data, humor, and hard truths.
The survey paints a fascinating, sometimes contradictory, picture of the Viking faithful. A striking 79.9% of respondents feel the Vikings are heading in the right direction, and 97.6% gave the Nolan Teasley hire at least a three out of five. Yet a solid 62.5% don’t believe the Vikings will win a Super Bowl in the next five years. Tyler captures the tension perfectly: “This fan base doesn’t have hope… this fan base and this town has been crushed time and time and time again.” On J.J. McCarthy, Tyler is blunt—“I don’t think J.J. McCarthy is a franchise quarterback… combined with everything else, I don’t think he’s a franchise guy.” Meanwhile, Brian Flores earns near-unanimous praise, with 98% rating him at least four out of five. Kevin O’Connell sits at 79.9% approval, ownership confidence checks in at 77.2%, and in a telling split, 69.2% want Kyler Murray to start in 2026, while 54.4% still see McCarthy as the long-term answer.
Direction vs. Belief: 79.9% say the Vikings are moving in the right direction, but 62.5% doubt a Super Bowl within five years. “That to me is a very interesting dichotomy,” Tyler notes. Teasley’s Hire: 97.6% rated it 3/5 or better. “I’m not surprised… he’s had a say in a very successful Seahawks organization.” J.J. McCarthy: Tyler states plainly, “I don’t think he’s a franchise quarterback,” pointing to process concerns highlighted by Lewis. Only 29.3% want him starting in 2026, yet 54.4% still want him as the future quarterback. Kyler Murray: 69.2% want him as the 2026 starter. “Math ain’t mathing here. It ain’t mathing.” Brian Flores: 98% rate him 4/5 or better. Tyler adds, “He’s been great… it doesn’t matter if he’s dealing with X, Y, or Z, he makes it work.” Wilf Ownership: 77.2% confidence. Tyler attributes their inclusive hiring culture to the franchise’s long-standing approach, dating back to Bud Grant: “We hire people because they’re good at their job.” NFC Opponents: 52.3% fear the Bears the most, but Tyler says his biggest concern is the Packers. U.S. Bank Stadium: 82.5% rate the game-day experience as “pretty good” or “perfect.”
