One Virginia Beach youth baseball team is preparing to compete for a world championship.The Lynnhaven Blue Tournament Team has earned a spot in the Bronco-11 World Series, an international PONY Baseball tournament featuring elite 11-and-under players from around the globe.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementLynnhaven is one of eight teams remaining from a field of approximately 1,000 that began the journey to the World Series. The team secured its berth with a dominant postseason performance, going undefeated in sectional play while outscoring opponents 65-13. Lynnhaven also finished 5-2 in pool play to punch its ticket to Chesterfield.The team hopes to carry that momentum into the World Series, which begins next Friday.The eight-team tournament features three international representatives from Mexico, the Caribbean and Asia, four U.S. qualifiers and host Chesterfield. The event has crowned champions from across the United States and Mexico, including teams from California, Florida, Illinois and Chesterfield.Now in its 17th year, the Bronco-11 World Series has become one of Central Virginia’s premier youth baseball events, showcasing some of the best 11-year-old talent from around the world.For Lynnhaven, the opportunity is a chance to compete against the world’s top young players with a championship on the line.
