The Philadelphia 76ers will head into the 2026-27 season with high expectations following the big trade to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics. The All-NBA Second Team member will join Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Joel Embiid to form a talented foursome in an effort to end a 43-year title drought and reach the mountaintop for the first time since 1983.Edgecombe is coming off an impressive rookie season in which he averaged 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in his maiden season. He will now have Brown join him in Philadelphia after the two just went at it in the playoffs where the Sixers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to eliminate the Celtics in Round 1.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSpeaking with Amazon Prime Video during Philadelphia’s summer league game on Tuesday, Edgecombe gave his reaction to the Brown deal and revealed it was tough for him to see Paul George go in the deal after the two had built a strong relationship.:I was getting a pedicure. I was getting a pedicure. Jameer (Nelson) was calling me, and I didn’t see it, and then I see the message, ‘Hey call me ASAP.’ I was kind of scared because I’m like this is the start of free agency. Why is the vice president calling me?…He called me twice, so I was like, man. But then he told me what happened. For me, it’s bittersweet just because of how close me and PG are. But then it’s also Jaylen Brown.Edgecombe also discussed the fit for the group to Amazon Prime:Everyone need the ball, but I think me, Tyrese, and Joel already build that chemistry to where we play off each other, just adding JB, someone that can play off the ball, someone that can play on the ball. We all can play off and on the ball. So I think one rock is enough. I think one rock is enough for us, and I can’t really tell you what exactly how it’ll be, but I’m looking forward to it. Especially, training camp, it’s gonna be good for us, especially with the addition of Simons and Dean Wade, Labaron, and JB. So, I’m looking forward to it.Time will tell how successful Brown and the Sixers will be in the coming season, but Philadelphia will certainly be in the mix to come out of the East and reach the finals for the first time since 2001. Edgecombe will play a huge part in the team’s success in the future. This article originally appeared on Sixers Wire: VJ Edgecombe reacts to Sixers adding Jaylen Brown, moving Paul George
