This is a continuing summer series previewing the 2026 Arizona high school football season. We have already broken down the top 10 players at each offensive position, and now we shift our focus to the defensive side of the ball. After profiling the top 10 edge rushers, we turn to the interior of the defensive line, featuring nose tackles and defensive tackles. Cast your vote in the poll below to choose the player you believe will be No. 1 for the 2026 season. For print readers, the poll is available online at azcentral.com/sports/high-schools.
1. Yahzeen Zion, Goodyear Desert Edge, 6-5, 260, Sr. This interior lineman is a true tank in the trenches, using powerful leverage and athleticism to threaten the backfield. Double-digit sacks could be in his future this season.
2. Anitoni Tahi, Chandler Basha, 6-2, 315, Sr. Now in his fourth year as a varsity starter, he combines power with relentless effort in the nose guard spot, overpowering centers and guards on the way to the quarterback and stalling running plays at the line of scrimmage.
3. Tiki Teeples, Waddell Canyon View, 6-4, 270, Sr. Since last season, he’s been on college coaches’ radar after helping Canyon View reach the 5A state final. He brings toughness, strength, and a high motor that keeps him near the ball and in on many stops.
