Our spring all-scholastics are about to release, but we’re also taking one last look at the 2025-26 high school sports year as a whole.From state champions to league all-stars and MVPs, the Brockton-area had dozens of stars competing in the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons. But the question remains: Who was the top local player from this school year? He finished with 2,358 career points (tied for the 13-th most in state history). He was named Mayflower League MVP after averaging 34.8 points per game. He led Holbrook (22-3) to it’s first appearance in the Div. 5 state final. He racked up 110 assists, 111 rebounds, and 118 steals this winter and had 1,501 points over the last two seasons.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe junior hurdler won the 400-meter hurdles at both the MIAA Meet of Champions (:51.61) and the Div. 6 state championship (:53.79). Calcano da Silva went on to compete at New Balance Outdoor Nationals, where he placed third in the country with a time of :51.96. He was runner up in the 300m hurdles at New Englands, placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles at the Meet of Champions, and finished runner-up to his brother Nathan in the 400m at Div. 6 states. He was also a part of Abington’s 4x400m relay team, which set the New England record at 3:15.01, also winning the Meet of Champions relay.Junior swept the shot put this past winter by winning the Hockomock League title (61 feet 9.5 inches), the Div. 3 state championship (60-4.5), the MIAA Meet of Champions (61-3) and the New England championship (62-1.75). Callender went on to compete at New Balance Nationals Indoor and placed 14th with a throw of 58-5.75.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Vikings senior goalie was one of just two South Shore players to be selected to the All-New England team by USCA. He had a 0.80 goals against average to lead the Vikings to the Div. 3 state quarterfinal. He helped the team finish with a 13-4-4 record and was named a South Shore League All-Star.The senior was an All-EMass pick at central defensive midfielder by the Eastern Mass.
