Vote for top St. Philip male athlete of all-time in Battle Creek’s 250

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

This summer marks a milestone as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday, and that landmark has become a touchstone for discussions, lists, and commemorations across the country. At the Battle Creek Enquirer and USA Today Network, we’ve joined in the celebration by recognizing outstanding athletes from across Michigan in honor of this historic anniversary. The collaboration between the Battle Creek Enquirer and other USA Today Network newspapers produced a statewide feature listing the top 250 athletes, a project structured to reflect the quintessence of the U.S. sesquicentennial spirit by highlighting excellence in sports from every region. Our goal is to offer a local counterpoint to that broader compilation by focusing on athletes from Battle Creek.
Locally, we’ve crafted our own curated list: the top 250 athletes from Battle Creek city schools, celebrating the athletic talent found here at home. The approach is to present the collection in manageable portions, beginning with the top 25 male and the top 25 female athletes from each of the five current traditional core city high schools. These athletes stood out not only during their high school careers but also beyond, earning recognition that extends past their school days. To keep things accessible, every regional list will be organized alphabetically, and Enquirer Readers will be invited to participate in choosing who should hold the No. 1 spot. It’s important to note that some worthy names may be absent from the initial lists, and our readers will have the chance to suggest additional contenders through a write-in option. The goal is to spark discussion and gauge community sentiment as part of Battle Creek’s 250.
In this installment of Battle Creek’s 250, we spotlight the top 25 female athletes of all time from St. Philip. We also present the candidates for Battle Creek’s 250 in boys’ sports for St. Philip. Before you cast your vote, you can read the rationale behind each athlete’s inclusion in our Battle Creek’s 250 feature on the online story here. The voting period runs through July 17.
