​With the midway point of the Alabama high school football season upon us, it’s time to vote for who has been the top player in the Gadsden area so far this season.At the midway point, the Gadsden-area has the No. 1 team in the ASWA Class 2A (Fyffe) and 3A (Plainview) rankings, with Nos. 2 in 3A in Geraldine and Private A in Westbrook Christian as well. Piedmont and Collinsville are also ranked inside the top six of the 2A rankings.The season runs through October before the playoffs start in November. The AHSAA football championships are Dec. 1-5 in Mobile. The nominees come from top performers lists from the first five weeks of the season. Each team was limited to three nominees, but, for the most part, teams have one or two.
