He had spent a couple of 10-day contracts with Boston in the second half of last season, but when those expired, he signed with Golden State for the stretch run.And then the other center probably equivalent to Horford on the depth chart is Kristaps Porzingis.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Celtics had first sent Porzingis in a trade to the Atlanta Hawks. He then moved to Golden State before the 2026 trade deadline in a deal for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. The obvious question now becomes whether there’s something to be gleaned from this pseudo-pipeline from the Boston paint to Golden State. It probably just says that both teams prioritize similar things in their players.MORE: Jayson Tatum’s ESPYs outfit was a choiceHorford and Porzingis certainly make sense in both pictures. For two teams that value outside shooting as well as a high basketball IQ, particularly on the offensive end, those two centers make a lot of sense.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBassey is different, a former high-ranking high school recruit who still does his damage closer to the basket. But as a younger, third center for Golden State, that change in skillset makes sense to mix things up for occasional minutes.Boston has moved on from those players and has the likes of Neemias Queta and Mitchell Robinson inside. Ironically, neither of them has outside shooting skill. That contrast will show up a couple times next season when these teams meet on the court, and there’ll definitely be some familiarity staring right back at the Celtics.Latest Celtics newsTD Garden fan guide: What to know before you goComplete history of Celtics championships
