​Throughout the Steve Kerr era, the Golden State Warriors have consistently been among the most turnover prone teams in the NBA. When you play at a high pace and consistently look to move the ball, turnovers are inevitable, making it something you must be willing to live with. Both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have had a long-standing reputation for turning the rock over, as Kerr understood that their usage rate and roles meant that their turnovers would naturally be higher than others on the roster. However, according to Green, who was speaking on a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show” podcast, Kerr has now rescinded that pass for both of his veteran stars.”Steve used to always tell us like ‘Steph and Draymond gonna turn the ball over more than everybody else and I’m gonna give them room to turn the ball over…’ and he (recently) said to us ‘Just an FYI, I’m no longer giving you guys a pass to turn the ball over more than everyone else’,” Green said.With Curry and Green both in the twilight of their careers, and the Warriors slowly ushering in a new young core, the style of play will need to adjust, which appears to mean that both Curry and Green will need to be more accountable for their on-court mistakes. Perhaps the decision is to set standards at the top and have them trickle down. Whatever the reason, it sounds like Kerr is looking to reduce the number of turnovers the Warriors give up, which in turn could lead to a slight change in play style.
